10 steps to bring your life back on track:
First and foremost, make up your mind about whether you want to improve your life or not. If you think your life is good enough, if you've given up, or if you're too lazy to make changes, then this won't be helpful. But if you feel you need to improve, then read on. Don't waver between wanting to improve and just taking it easy. Life goes forward, not back and forth.
Wherever you are in life, accept that this is your starting point. Forget past glories; your present is your reality. The past is history, and the future is what you can shape. Work hard (and enjoy the process) to improve every aspect of your life: value system, finances, skills, health, relationships. Serve yourself and society.
Develop a positive value system based on IFLC principles to cultivate positivity and let go of negativity. This change won't happen overnight, but it's a necessity for achieving sustained success in everything. You need to start seeing the positive in everything around you. Imagine a seed buried in dry cold stony ground. If it gives up and starts feeling negative then it's done forever. Instead, the seed waits for the right moment to sprout. You are not more helpless than that seed. Stay positive and wait for your moment to flourish and succeed.
Set a high goal for yourself to achieve in 2-10 years. Turning your life around isn't a short-term task; it takes 6 months to 5 years to see significant changes. The timeframe depends on your goal's size. Remember, you're doing this for yourself, your loved ones, and future generations. Once you rise, they rise with you. The hard work is worth its price. Perseverance is key. We're all in this together.
Bring your partner, children, friends, and relatives along. Help them improve their lives too. A team is more successful than an individual.
Accept that you're not as smart or perfect as you think. Humility is a crucial life skill. Be humble and learn from everything around you, from everything moving and non-moving. Learn new ways to improve yourself in every facet of life. If you don't change your attitude towards learning, you'll never gain enough knowledge to improve. You can learn at any age. In fact, stopping learning is when you stop growing and become stagnant. Most people with difficult lives share this one bad habit: not learning.
If you're obese or overweight, reduce your weight. You'll feel much younger. More importantly, the world will treat you as if you're much younger than what you yourself feel. You'll see your new look reflected in people's eyes, rewarding you with a confidence boost.
Work on your education, profession, business and skills to reach the next level. Strive to be the best student in class or the best employee at work or improve your business presence.
Leave the company of negative people and surround yourself with positive people. Even if your current friends love you, if they're not helping you improve, it's time for a change. Connect with people who will support your growth.
If you're in school or college, connect with the smartest person in class, befriend them, and ask for help with your studies.
If you're in a low-level job, connect with someone senior in your organization and ask for mentorship. They can truly help you succeed.
Start being nice to people for no reason, treat them with unexpected kindness. Even if you feel the world is a bad place, be generous to others. This will generate happiness hormones in your body, rewarding you instantly. Later, in time, when your family, friends, and contacts realize how nice you are, they'll stop giving you negativity. Only then will you start seeing the positive side of the world and appreciate the beauty around you.
